El Dr. Manuel Molina Arias ha publicado el libro El ovillo y la espada. Manual de lectura crítica de documentos científicos, de momento accesible en línea, y en breve también en papel. El título es una metáfora del contenido del subtítulo, cuyo objetivo es proporcionar los conocimientos básicos y las herramientas necesarias para llevar a cabo los pasos de búsqueda de la literatura publicada y la lectura crítica de los artículos seleccionados siguiendo el protocolo de la Medicina Basada en Evidencias. El autor, especialista en Gastroenterología Pediátrica y miembro del Comité Científico de Evidencias en Pediatría ha recopilado en el libro una selección de entradas sobre el tema publicadas en su blog Ciencia sin seso… locura doble, metodológicamente estructuradas y contadas de una forma amena y eficaz.

Juan Gris: Patología y Arte

La doctora Carmen Fernández Jacob acaba de publicar un interesante artículo titulado Juan Gris: Patología y arte en el que analiza la influencia de la enfermedad asmática del artista en su obra pictórica. La autora destaca, no solo la importancia de su pintura sino también el importante papel desempeñado por el pintor en el movimiento intelectual que dio lugar a la estética cubista a principios del siglo XX.

Rayyan QCRI Note

COVID-19: As we are all facing unprecedented challenges and uncertainties with COVID-19, we wanted to have a small contribution in the fight against COVID-19 and allow the Rayyan community to contribute as well. We took the metadata of the COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (published here by the Allen Institute for AI and others) and put it in a public Rayyan review. The dataset has over 45,000 scholarly articles, including over 33,000 with full text, about COVID-19 and the coronavirus family of viruses.

Once logged in, the review is in the “Other Reviews” tab (called “Review containing the “COVID-19 Open Research Dataset” metadata”). You can simply have a quick peek at the data to see what’s in it or export the data and use it either as usual for your systematic/literature review or to code/label the set for some other analytic task. Remember that you can work with multiple collaborators in a blinded or unblinded mode while chatting with them. Note also that we now support PubMed ID and PMC ID in the Rayyan CSV format both when exporting from and importing to Rayyan.

Keeping up with the growth of the Rayyan community: As the number of Rayyan users is continuously growing to reach more than 55,000 people globally, who are simultaneously and continuously running tens of thousands of machine learning jobs, we have been working hard to optimize our backend infrastructure while keeping our cloud bills manageable. While some of you have noticed some server errors in the past, our logs are telling us that things have dramatically improved. We won’t stop here, we are continuously monitoring and improving our infrastructure.
